A2K: Access to Knowledge: Libraries and their role in dissemination of information
Communities rely more than ever on their public Libraries to get access to the internet, to vetted sources of information and participate in their communities.

Many of the people in local and state governments are computer stupid. They don't appear to care about providing money to continue this service, they appear to be computer stupid and short-sighted.

Growing up without money, I learned early on that knowledge is precious. They can't take that away from you.

Also, the government agencies have yet to understand the importance of Knowledge Management. for example:  Long term employees often are the main source for procedures and troubleshooting. However, without good documentation, that knowledge goes away with them. Also it fosters the "we have always done it this way" attitude, stifling new and better ways to solve problems.
